Thales TopSky - AMHS latest version goes live in Austria
• The latest version of Thales’s TopSky Aeronautical Message Handling System (AMHS) is now fully operational at Austro Control’s facilities in Vienna.
• This update introduces several functional advancements designed to enhance Austro Control's capabilities, including the integration of the AMHS SWIM gateway.
• This marks another important milestone in the long-standing partnership between Thales and Austro Control in the AMHS domain.
Austro Control, Austria’s Air Navigation Service Provider (ANSP), managing up to 4,000 flights daily, has successfully deployed the latest version of Thales's TopSky - AMHS. This upgrade represents a significant step forward in improving operational efficiency and safety standards.
The project involved upgrading Austro Control’s existing AMHS system - already provided by Thales - to the latest version, alongside comprehensive through-life support. This update brings key operational enhancements to support Austro Control operations, including renewed user interfaces, improved statistics, and consistency verification against the routing directory, namely AFTN (Aeronautical Fixed Telecom Network) and AMHS routing tables, which are specific protocols used to exchange Air Traffic Management (ATM) messages such as flight plans, NOTAMs, meteorological messages, and coordination messages between ANSPs.
Leveraging the latest AMHS version, now equipped with System Wide Information Management (SWIM) capabilities, Austro Control benefits from an enhanced messaging service, ensuring seamless exchange of critical information such as aeronautical procedures and notifications, flight plans, and meteorological messages.
"We are honoured of the renewed trust of Austro Control. The successful deployment of the latest version of TopSky - AMHS system underscores our commitment to equipping our partners with advanced aviation technology that enhances safety and efficiency, contributing to the development of a more seamless and secure airspace in the region." said Jeremy Hooper, Vice President Air Traffic Control and Digital Segment at Thales.
