SES Adds Third Satellite from Thales Alenia Space to Extend Services across Europe, Africa and Asia

Luxembourg, 28 March 2022 – SES announced today it has ordered SES-26 a fully software-defined geostationary (GEO) satellite from Thales Alenia Space, joint venture between Thales (67 %) and Leonardo (33 %). SES-26 will maintain and expand the wide range of content delivery and connectivity services to broadcasters, media companies, telco operators, internet service providers and governmental organisations across Europe, Africa, the Middle East, and Asia-Pacific.

EUTELSAT KONNECT satellite, built by Thales Alenia Space, now in orbit

Cannes, January 17, 2020 – The all-electric EUTELSAT KONNECT telecommunications satellite has been successfully launched by Arianespace from the Guiana Space Center, Europe’s Spaceport in French Guiana (South America). EUTELSAT KONNECT was built by Thales Alenia Space, acting as prime contractor for Eutelsat Communications. From geostationary orbit, this satellite will provide large-scale coverage of high-speed Internet markets across Africa and Europe.

Inmarsat GX5 satellite, manufactured by Thales Alenia Space, now in orbit

Cannes, November 27, 2019 – The Inmarsat GX5 geostationary telecommunications satellite has been successfully orbited by Arianespace atop an Ariane 5 launcher from the Guiana Space Center in Kourou, French Guiana. Built for Inmarsat, the world leader in global, mobile satellite communications, by prime contractor Thales Alenia Space, a joint venture between Thales (67%) and Leonardo (33%), this satellite will boost Inmarsat’s ��Ƶ Xpress (GX) broadband network, offering more capacity for inflight Wi-Fi services covering the Middle East, and Europe. The world’s first and only globally available true broadband service delivered through a single operator, the Inmarsat GX service operates in the Ka-band and is designed and optimized for mobile applications.
