Thales Australia has joined the Tech Council of Australia - the nation's peak body for the country's technology industry. 

Representing a cross-section of Australia’s technology ecosystem, the Tech Council of Australia (TCA) advises and engages with government, business and the wider community to help support the move to a digitally-enabled economy.  

As the first Defence and Security company to join the council, also serving a broad range of civil markets, Thales brings unique vision and experience regarding the role of technology at the intersection between the defence and civil markets.  

Ryan Black, Acting CEO of Tech Council Australia said: “We are absolutely thrilled to have Thales on board as a member of the Tech Council. We are working on so many issues at the moment at the intersection of Defence, security and tech – whether that be cybersecurity; to supporting the roll out of Digital ID; to working on our big international partnerships like AUKUS and Quad; and driving the growth of tech capability here in Australia." 

Alongside Thales’ expertise, is a responsibility to support the ongoing creation, development and adoption of technology in an ethical and responsible way. By joining Australia’s peak technology body, Thales will work with leaders across the tech industry to collectively shape Australia’s digital future.

To mark the joining of TCA, Thales and the Tech Council hosted a ������Ƶ Leader’s Breakfast on Tuesday 26 March, in Barangaroo, Sydney, attended by leaders from a range of Australian technology companies.

Thales Australia and New Zealand CEO Jeff Connolly was joined by Dr. Philippe Vallée, Thales Executive Vice President Digital Identity and Security, and Pierre-Yves Jolivet, Thales Vice-President Cyber Defence Solutions, to lead a panel discussion with the group. Topics covered included the global and Australian cybersecurity landscape; insights into the evolution of digital identity including key lessons from the European Union’s approach; as well as Thales’ experience in supporting Australian government and business through advanced technology, critical infrastructure, and defence capabilities.
